IPGGC has set up approved training programs to enable professionals to identify appropriate training courses that meet the IPGGC standard. Approved status is a mark of quality that the body awards to training programs who meet their standards for training content and delivery. Many of these courses are 100% virtual.

Washington
The Gambling Counselor Core Training provides the 30 CE hours required for certification as a Washington State Certified Gambling Counselor (WSCGC), and/or certification through IPGGC. The training includes a 10-hour self-directed portion (Part 1) and a 20-hour live-learning webinar portion (Part 2).
University of Pittsburgh
The University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work has developed an 18 Module, online, self-paced program for the ICGC 30 hour training requirement. It was developed by Jody Bechtold, LCSW, ICGC-II, BACC and includes access to BACC hours as part of enrollment. Perfect for working individuals that want to pursue certification outside of normal working hours. Cost: $599.
Indiana
The Indiana Problem Gambling Awareness Program is part of Prevention Insights at the IU Bloomington, School of Public Health. IPGAP is funded with a contract with the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction, Indiana Gamblers’ Assistance Fund.

MACGH - Vermont
The Problem Gambling Essentials for Clinicians is a 10-session, 30-hour course to grow your skills in gambling disorder assessment, treatment, and recovery support.
The course is available FREE for clinical providers and residents of Vermont and costs $350 for residents of other locations. Earn up to 30 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) — 3 CEUs per attendance of each live class. Classes will be held live on Zoom and begin Winter 2026.

Problem Gambling Treatment 101 for Behavioral Health Professionals is a set of six self-paced, online 2 CEU training modules offered by Oregon Health Authority Problem Gambling Services and the Oregon Council on Problem Gambling. Courses are FREE and well suited for mental health professionals who would like to learn more about problem gambling.
Orientation for New Problem Gambling Counselors is a set of six self-paced, online 2 CEU training modules offered by Oregon Health Authority Problem Gambling Services and the Oregon Council on Problem Gambling. The modules are designed to supplement the learning of new problem gambling treatment providers. Courses are FREE.

Supervision

The Gambling Recovery Information Network
The Gambling Recovery Information Network Peer Training course is designed for people with lived experience of addiction and provides comprehensive training for individuals to be able to support others impacted by gambling harms, particularly in peer roles. Delivered live and online by trained peers with lived experience of gambling harm, the course encompasses 30 hours of training time. The GRIN Peer Training covers ten core modules rooted in trauma-informed care, public health, and lived experience practice.
